At 4 Site Security, supporting our local community and helping to invest in the next generation is important to us. When Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College in Leeds contacted us with an exciting request to host a Digital T Level student for a nine-week industry placement starting at the end of Spring, we were delighted to be able to help.
T Levels are rigorous technical qualifications where students must complete hundreds of hours in industry placement. Without completing an employer placement, students cannot finish or pass their qualification. Digital T Level students must be equipped with strong foundational skills across key areas including:
- IT support and troubleshooting
- Cybersecurity basics
- Programming and software testing
- Data entry, organisation, and analysis
- Digital project support, documentation, and web administration
Hosting a placement student is a win-win. Our team had the opportunity to experience fresh, digital-native perspectives and, most importantly, this allowed us to deliver positive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) impact by helping a young person take their first steps into the workplace.
Over their time with us, our placement student Douglas integrated into our workplace, gaining hands-on exposure to our internal business systems, taking part in training, and receiving constructive feedback from our team. Over the nine weeks, Douglas grew significantly in confidence, skills, and experience.
Our Compliance Officer Charlotte King explained: "Douglas worked very hard during his placement with us. He successfully refreshed our documentation storage, completed courses in Excel, GDPR, and cyber security, and contributed to a major gap analysis project with the Patrol and Response team. He also gained valuable insight into sales and systems, and presented findings from his own trend analysis project, sharpening both his analytical and public speaking skills.
